Robert Lougy (R) is a judge on the Vicinage 7 Superior Court in New Jersey.[1] He was appointed by New Jersey Supreme Court Chief Justice Stuart Rabner to replace Mary C. Jacobson.[2]

He is the former acting attorney general of New Jersey. He was appointed to the position effective March 14, 2016 by Governor Chris Christie to replace John Hoffman (R).[3]

On May 18, 2016, Christie announced he would nominate Lougy to the New Jersey Superior Court. Christie had informed the Senate earlier that week that he intended to nominate 18 new justices to the court.[4]

Biography

Robert Lougy earned degrees from Pennsylvania State University and Columbia University Law School in 1994 and 2002, respectively. Lougy's career experience includes working as a public defender with Essex County, a first assistant attorney general, and a chief of staff.[5]

Political career

New Jersey attorney general (2016)

Lougy began his term as attorney general on March 14, 2016. He was named as acting attorney general to replace John Hoffman (R).[3] On May 18, 2016, Governor Chris Christie, who appointed Lougy to the position, announced that he would nominate Lougy to the New Jersey Superior Court. Lougy stepped down on June 21, 2016, when his successor, Christopher Porrino, was sworn in[4][6]
