Alex Cherniss is the superintendent of the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District. Cherniss was appointed superintendent on April 18, 2023. Cherniss' previous career experience includes working as the superintendent of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District, and as chief financial officer for the Los Angeles County Office of Education. He has also worked as an assistant superintendent, director of human resources, principal, and teacher in the Beverly Hills Unified School District.[1]

Members of the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District school board are elected to four-year terms. Two or three seats are up for election on a staggered basis every even-numbered year in November.
