Mississippi Voter ID signatures filed for 2011 ballot

JACKSON, Mississippi: The Mississippi Voter Identification Petition may be headed to the November 2011 statewide ballot. Last week, approximately 130,000 signatures were submitted to the Mississippi Secretary of State.[1] A minimum of 90,000 valid signatures are required to qualify the measure.[2] The measure, if successful, would require Voter ID at the polls in the state. The measure was previously proposed for the 2008 ballot, however, Mississippi State Senate failed to take action on the proposal.
