Abita Springs Redistribution Tax Measure (October 2009)
This local ballot measure article needs significant improvements to meet Ballotpedia's standards.
There was a Abita Springs Redistribution Tax Measure on the October 17 ballot in Abita Springs.
This measure passed with 76 percent of voters in favor of it.[1]
This measure sought to redistribute three property tax levies to be used instead to help finance public parks and city lighting. The levies currently go towards helping alleviate the bond debt the city has. The bonds were created to help with street improvements, but other levies are seen as sufficient to pay for this and these three are seen as a way to help other parts of the city. The taxpayers would continue to pay the same amount, the money would just be used in a different area.[2]
