I have spent the better part of the last 35 years in the hospitality industry as both a sales and operations leader. The majority of my experience has been with Marriott and Hilton with the exception being a total of 8 years at the independently operated Grove Hotel in downtown Boise. I was a part of The Grove Hotel opening team in 1997 and went on to open six newly constructed hotels and lead the renovation of four additional buildings over the next twenty years. During my career, I worked as a key member of the team that developed the Tacoma Regional/Pierce County Tourism Promotion Area in Washington State and sat on the board of the Washington Lodging Association. Both positions gave me the opportunity to work with various city and county councils and offered lobbying opportunities where I testified to protect funding earmarked and dedicated for tourism and destination marketing. I have held seats on the boards of the Tacoma Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Visit Boise Board.
  • Think Big Picture. Develop long term plans based on data and real results. Collaborate with partners and stakeholders. Look for innovative ideas that meet the urban location to deliver the results we all hope to live with for years to come. If it’s worth doing, let’s do it well. Ensure high-quality outcomes by setting the cadence of brilliance as a norm. Be relentless in adherence to standards and the constituent’s expectations. Employ Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and/or Lean management principles throughout projects at every chance.
  • Be Good Neighbors. Work with local people, agencies, inspectors, vendors, suppliers, and teams to understand and operate successfully in the local environment. Don’t disregard the people who came before us or those who will be here after us… what we do will impact both. Speak respectfully, listen adamantly, and check for understanding often. Don’t make commitments that cannot be honored. Being true to our words will enlist the trust and respect of the people around us.
  • Ensuring transparency means having a plan in advance. Communicate, Communicate, Communicate. Do not assume. Plan ahead. Get information out in a timely manner and with consideration for those receiving it. Be diligent about accurate meeting minutes, notes, and/or copies of information and utilize all the tools we have to deliver our communication plan. Manage scope-creep with open and honest conversations and quick-responding and accurate communications.
I have long been passionate about tourism… which means embracing the beauty, diversity, and culture of the world. It's about more than just traveling—it's about experiencing new perspectives, forging meaningful connections, and appreciating the rich histories that shape different places. Passion for tourism also means supporting sustainable practices that preserve landscapes, respect local communities, and promote responsible travel. It's the joy of discovery, the thrill of stepping outside comfort zones, and the endless opportunities to learn from the world’s stories.
As a daughter, I have been blessed with a father unlike any other. He is intelligent and wise, he embodies strength, guidance, and understanding. His wisdom and counsel has often helped me navigate life’s challenges as he offered endless advice rooted in experience and insight. His patience, caring nature, and deep intelligence inspires me to think critically, dream boldly, and strive for excellence. Beyond knowledge, his kindness and tolerance created a safe space for me to learn and grow, and fail… knowing that I would be loved and supported. Through his actions and words, my father has been an incredible role model—someone I trust, admire, and aspire to emulate.
An elected official carries a significant responsibility, and their effectiveness often depends on several key characteristics and principles. Here are some of the most important:

Integrity – Honesty and ethical behavior are essential for public trust. An official must act in the best interest of the people, not personal gain.

Accountability – They should take responsibility for their decisions and be transparent about their actions.

Communication Skills – Being able to clearly express ideas, listen to constituents, and foster open dialogue is crucial.

Empathy – Understanding and caring about the concerns of citizens helps in making fair and effective policies.

Strong Leadership – A good leader must inspire others, make difficult decisions, and stay steady in times of crisis.

Adaptability – The ability to adjust to changing circumstances and learn from mistakes ensures ongoing effectiveness.

Commitment to Public Service – A genuine dedication to improving the lives of citizens should be at the heart of their work.

Knowledge and Competence – Expertise in policies, economics, and governance enables informed decision-making.
The core responsibilities of someone elected to GBAD should include serving the people, upholding the vision, and leading with integrity.

• Representation – Act in the best interest of Boiseans and the business communities we serve. Be willing to voice concerns and advocate for policies that align with the needs of the stakeholders.
• Public Service and Leadership – Serve the people by being astute stewards of the assets, funds and duties assigned. Seek feedback and insight often.
• Accountability and Transparency – Public trust is critical, communicate honestly, disclose relevant information, and be held accountable for our actions.

• Budget and Resource Allocation – Manage funds responsibly and ensure economic stability is maintained.
Oh, that's a fantastic question! If I had to choose, I might go with Sherlock Holmes—sharp as a tack, endlessly curious, and always a step ahead in unraveling the mysteries of the world. Plus, imagine the thrill of solving puzzles and outwitting brilliant adversaries!
• Financial transparency and government accountability are fundamental pillars of a well-functioning society. When governments are open about how they collect, allocate, and spend public funds, citizens can make informed decisions, trust their leaders, and hold institutions responsible for their actions. Transparency reduces corruption, fosters economic stability, and ensures that taxpayer money serves the public good rather than personal or political interests.
• Strong accountability measures—such as independent audits, public reporting, and oversight bodies—help reinforce trust and efficiency. Many countries and organizations work toward improving financial transparency through initiatives like open data policies, public procurement disclosures, and anti-corruption frameworks.
