Gedde highlighted the following statement on his campaign website:
| “ | Hello, my name is Alan Gedde, and I am running for RISD school board, District 3. I am running to create change in the Roswell schools. I want to help RISD provide our children the education they deserve and help them to succeed. I believe that starts with a district that is working together. I have been a Pastor for thirteen years here in Roswell and understand how to develop an environment where all parties are working towards a common goal. As a board member I will do my best to create an environment where the teachers, the principals, and the administrative staff will work together to create a better school system.
Over the past few years I have watched as our district has lost good teachers, and have talked to so many other employees who feel unappreciated. Our district has a lot of positions that are not being filled because of this feeling. A board that is working well together with the administration and the staff of the schools can attract good teachers and retain them. Teachers that are willing to come and stay in Roswell will help us to create a better school district. This next year will be a difficult year financially, and as a board, there will be tough decisions made. Those decisions should be decisions that put the students first. Because of those tough decisions, the board will have to be willing to listen to all of those involved in the process, not just listen, but actually respond to concerns. With your vote, you will get a board member who loves children, has a heart for families, and wants to see Roswell succeed. Your vote for me is a vote for children. I have my degree in Christian Ministries from Arizona Christian University and my Master’s in Christian Ministries from Wayland Baptist. I have been involved in several Roswell community organizations including church, children’s sports and community events for the last thirteen years. Currently I am the Children’s Pastor at Grace Community Church. I live in District 3 with my wife Tamra, and four children, three of whom attend Roswell schools at Kindergarten, 4th grade and 8th grade. I have two other children who have graduated from Roswell High School, one has completed college and one is now enrolled at Colorado Christian University. My sixth child is a toddler and will start attending RISD when she is old enough. I am committed to Roswell’s public education.[4] |
