Ann Boyden

Ann Boyden was a judge of the Third Judicial District in Utah.[1] She was appointed by Gov. Michael O. Leavitt (R) in October 1997 and retired from the bench on January 1, 2018.[2][3]
Biography
Boyden earned an undergraduate degree, a master's degree, and a J.D. from the University of Utah. Her experience includes work as a deputy district attorney for Salt Lake County and service as a member of the Salt Lake City School District's Council for Special Education, the Salt Lake County Children's Justice Center Advisory Board, the Utah State Children's Justice Center Advisory Board, the Utah Supreme Court's Advisory Committee on Professionalism and the Uniform Fine and Bail Schedule Committee.[2]

Boyden stood for retention election in 2012. On November 6, 2012, Boyden was retained with 79.4 percent of the vote and a total of 275,722 votes.[4]
Judicial Performance Evaluation recommendation
The Utah Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission compiled information from attorneys, court staff and jurors about the performance of all judges up for retention in 2012. Judges were evaluated based on five criteria.
A judge must score at least 3 out of 5 in each of these categories to meet the minimum performance standard. 88 attorneys responded to the following questions.
- Legal Ability: 4.35
- Communication: 4.33
- Integrity: 4.56
- Judicial temperament: 4.47
- Administrative: 4.38
