An effort to recall City Councilors Anthony Clements and Benjamin Garcia did not go to a vote in Iron River, Michigan, after signatures were not submitted by the deadline to do so.[1][2]
Recall supporters
Iron River resident Mark Polley filed the recall petitions following a 3-2 vote by the city council to move Iron River City Hall. Regarding the move, Polley said, "It’s part of our community and the whole surrounding community. The city manager wanted to move to another building and I questioned it."[1]
Recall opponents
Regarding their votes to move city hall, Clements and Garcia have said the move would save the city money.[1]

No specific grounds are required for recall in Michigan. To get a recall on the ballot in Michigan, recall supporters must collect signatures equal in number to 25% of voters in the jurisdiction in the last gubernatorial election. They have 60 days between the collection of the first signature and the collection of the last signature on the petition. Recall petitions are eligible to collect signatures for 180 days.[3][4][5]
