The Arkansas Alcohol Tax Increase did not appear on the 2010 ballot in the state of Arkansas. The State Attorney General rejected the proposed initiative on December 15, 2009 due to "ambiguities" in the language of the proposed measure.[1]
The measure would have levied a 10-cent tax on every "standard drink" of alcohol that was sold the state. The revenue gained from the tax would have been used for a drug treatment, prevention and interdiction program. The initiative was filed by Teresa Belew, a volunteer for Mothers Against Drunk Driving in Arkansas.
