This measure was not put on an election ballot |
The Arkansas Gay Foster Parents Initiative did not appear on the 2010 ballot in the state of Arkansas. The Attorney General rejected the measure, stating that the filed proposal was inconsistent. The group that submitted the proposal would be allowed to re-submit after revision.
The measure would have banned unmarried couples in the state from becoming foster parents, which would have included gay couples looking to adopt. According to Attorney General Dustin McDaniel: “I strongly suspect they will incorporate our changes and maybe a few of their own, resubmit it, and I’ll ultimately certify it. But it did not meet the legal requirements to certify it right now.”[1]
