Article 9 of the Indiana Constitution is entitled State Institutions. It has three sections.

Section 1

Text of Section 1:

Deaf, Mute, Blind, and the Insane

It shall be the duty of the General Assembly to provide, by law, for the support of institutions for the education of the deaf, the mute, and the blind; and, for the treatment of the insane.[1]

Section 2

Text of Section 2:

Juvenile Offenders

The General Assembly shall provide institutions for the correction and reformation of juvenile offenders.[1]

Section 3

Text of Section 3:

County Farms

The counties may provide farms, as an asylum for those persons who, by reason of age, infirmity, or other misfortune, have claims upon the sympathies and aid of society.[1]
