Albany, New York: There are 213 total legislative seats with 2012 elections in New York, where polling places open at 6:00 AM and close at 9:00 PM New York Time.
In the Senate, Republicans currently hold 33 of 62 seats; Democrats need to gain 4 seats to flip control of the chamber. Only two incumbents are retiring, both Republicans. Unlike the Senate, the Assembly is solidly Democratic (99-49) and is unlikely to change hands.

Here are a few races to watch:
Senate
- District 15: Gov. Andrew Cuomo endorsed Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. (D), who is in a tight race against Eric A. Ulrich (R).
- District 46: Cecilia F. Tkaczyk (D) will try to take this new district from incumbent George A. Amedore, Jr. (R).
House
- Speaker Sheldon Silver (D) will face challenger Wave Chan (R).
