Benjamin Makin is a judge of the Clarke County Magistrate Court in Georgia. He assumed office in 2012. His term ended in 2024.

Makin was appointed to the Clarke County Magistrate Court in February 2012.[1] He was appointed Chief Judge by the Superior Court Judges of the Western Circuit on January 1, 2022 to replace Patricia D. Barron.[1]

Biography

Makin was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and grew up in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He moved to Athens, Georgia in 2001.[1] He has served as mentor for the Clarke County Mentor Program for over eight years.[1]

Education

Makin earned his B.A. at Oklahoma State University and his J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law.[1]

Career

Prior to serving as a judge, Makin was an attorney for the Western Circuit Public Defender’s Office.[1]
