Efforts to recall Trustees Betty Brockie and Mark Singer in Blackman Township, Michigan from their positions were launched in 2014.[1] Petitioners collected enough signatures to add the recalls to the November ballot.[2] The recall election took place on November 4, 2014.[3] Brockie and Singer were recalled.[4]

Recall proponent arguments

A group known as "Better Blackman" targeted Brockie and Singer for approving nearly $100,000 in pay raises for three other elected officials in March 2014.[1]

Supporters needed to turn in 1,254 valid signatures in order to force a recall election. Better Blackman gathered more than 1,500.[1] The signatures were verified, putting the issue on the November ballot.[2] Brockie and Singer had until August 27, 2014, to file a written challenge to the petition. Because they did not, the recall election took place on November 4, 2014.[3]
