What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
Jobs/economic development Education Senior issues Drug crisis
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Jobs/Economic Development - We need to create a business-friendly culture in Delaware by providing infrustructure, streamlining permit processes, and reducing regulation so businesses can expand/locate here! Public assistance administration - We need to change the way our public assistance programs are designed and administered to focus on removing barriers to employment and career success, to incentivize working instead of sitting at home. Senior Issues - This is the fastest growing segment of the population in our district. We policies that support transportation, aging in place, and quality of life so seniors can live out their golden years with dignity and respect. Drug Crisis - substance abuse disorder is a vicious, soul-stealing and deadly epidemic. We need policies that support a three-pronged attack: awareness/prevention, treatment, and law enforcement. Education - Two of the state's poorest school districts are in this senate district. We must not allow poverty to be a barrier to success at school. We need common sense reform in measuring student achievement?"success scores", not test scores. We need policies that support educating our children for success in life, not just passing the test. I am proud to have the endorsement of the Delaware State Education Association (DSEA)!
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
Jesus Christ - He set the example for how we should live and relate to each other. Senator Bob Venables - Bob held this senate seat for 26 years and did more for this district than any legislator has done before or since. Bob did what was right regardless of political party or personal agendas. He got things done. He is my mentor and friend for 40'years and counting. I am proud to have Bob's strong endorsement and support in this race!
