Bruce Boyer was a judge of the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He was elected to this position in 1990 and re-elected in 2014, defeating Jon Newlon in the August 26 primary.[1][2] Boyer retired from the court in November 2016.[3]

Education

Boyer received his B.A. from Eastern Kentucky University in 1969, his M.A. from Morehead State University in 1971, and his J.D. from the University of Kentucky Law School in 1977.[1]

Career

Boyer began his career in 1978 as an assistant state attorney. He left that position to become a private practice lawyer in 1983. He worked as a sole practitioner until 1990, specializing in criminal defense.[4]

Primary: He was elected in the primary on August 26, 2014, receiving 69.8 percent of the vote. He competed against Jon Newlon.

The Tampa Bay Times strongly recommended that voters re-elect Bruce Boyer in an article dated July 28, 2014.[7]
