Carole Coil Medley

Carole Coil Medley is a Republican and judge on the partisan Lauderdale County District Court in Alabama. She was appointed to the court by Gov. Bob Riley (R) in September 2008. She won election to a full term in office in 2010. This election made her the first Republican to hold the seat since the Civil War.[1][2]
Medley won re-election in the general election on November 8, 2016.
Biography
Medley received her undergraduate degrees from Athens State University and the University of North Alabama and her master's degree in secondary education from the University of North Alabama. Medley earned her J.D. from the Jones School of Law.[3]
Medley has served as judge on the Lauderdale County District Court since 2008. Prior to her appointment to the bench, she worked as an attorney in private practice.[3]

2016
Alabama held general elections for local judicial offices in 2016. A primary election took place on March 1, 2016, with a primary runoff on April 12, 2016. The general election was held on November 8, 2016.
Incumbent Carole Coil Medley ran unopposed in the general election for the Lauderdale County District Court.[4]

Medley ran for election to the seat she was appointed to on the Lauderdale County District Court. She won 58.73 percent of the general election votes, defeating James E. Hall (D) on November 2, 2010.[5][6]
