Charles L. Nail, Jr. is the chief judge for the United States bankruptcy court, District of South Dakota. He was appointed to the court on August 2, 2006.[1]

Education

Nail earned a bachelor's degree from the University of South Dakota and a J.D. from the University of Minnesota. [2]

Career

Prior to joining the court, Nail worked as a private practice attorney, serving at the same time as a Chapter 7 Trustee for the District of Minnesota. In 1988, he returned to his home state where he took a position as Assistant U.S. Trustee for the District of South Dakota. In 1995, Nail was appointed as clerk of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of South Dakota. Nail was appointed to the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the 8th Circuit in September 2010.[3]
