Cynthia K. Swienton is a judge for the New Britain District Superior Court in Connecticut.[1] She was nominated by Governor John Rowland in 1997; her current term expired on July 4, 2021.[2]

Education

Swienton earned an undergraduate degree in government from Western New England College. She was awarded a J.D. from Western New England College, School of Law.[3]

Career

Swienton was appointed to the bench in 1997. She currently serves on the New Britain District Superior Court in Connecticut, and her term expires in 2021. In January 1995, Swienton opened her own law practice. Between 1994 and her nomination to the bench in 1997, she served as an assistant clerk of the Connecticut House of Representatives. Upon graduation from law school, Swienton accepted a position as an associate at a law firm and was eventually made partner at the firm. She worked with the firm for eight years before starting a law practice with two other attorneys. She also served as a hearing officer with the Department of Motor Vehicles.[3]
