Payton's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
“ |
Communication Darryl is committed to open, transparent, and accessible government. He wants to represent and hear from everyone regardless of party. Education Rather than provide adequate funding, Republicans have proposed that the state take over struggling schools. The Opportunity School District constitutional amendment would remove control from parents, teachers and the local school superintendents, placing schools entirely in the hands of an administrator appointed by, and reporting only to, the governor. This misguided measure needs to be defeated in November. Darryl is committed to supporting public schools and fighting against Opportunity School District. He understands that strong community schools are the foundation of successful communities and a stronger Georgia. Medicaid Expansion Darryl will work to expand Medicaid through the Affordable Care Act to provide healthcare to nearly a half million Georgians. The expansion will also help prevent more than a dozen closures of hospitals in rural areas. The measure is also a jobs bill. With a $2.1 billion investment over seven years, the expansion would result in 56,000 jobs.[1] |
