Funding

Adams opted for mini reporting in this election, according to the Washington Public Disclosure Commission.[3] Candidates who opted for this had to keep a record of their contributors and expenditures, but were not required to report them. If they raised and spent more than $5,000 in aggregate or received more than $500 from any one contributor, including themselves, they would have had to switch their filing status from mini to full reporting.[4]

Campaign themes

2013

Adams provided the following statement for the 2013 voters' pamphlet in Benton County:[8]

Dawn has served on the Kennewick School Board for 12 years, currently serving as President. "My objective is to represent the diverse needs of our community by providing opportunities for each child to advance academically to his/her potential.”

Dawn actively supports the District’s strategic objectives. “Most importantly, each child must have a safe learning environment--where goals are established and expectations communicated; students, their families and educators are treated with respect; and appropriate tools are provided to enable learning. I also embrace the District’s emphasis on reading--reading serves as the foundation for active learning and personal growth. Education occurs inside and outside the classroom. A successful education program integrates the curriculum with participation from the student's family, friends, and community members.”

A Kennewick native, Dawn graduated from Kennewick High before earning a B.A. in Business and MS in Computer Science from WSU. Dawn is married with four sons who attended Kennewick schools. Dawn’s father, Les Adams, played an active role in developing the District’s vocational curriculum. “His passion for education resonates within me. By electing me, I will be allowed to continue to serve our children and families in our pursuit for educational excellence.[9]
