Donald Schott was nominated by President Barack Obama on January 12, 2016, to the position of federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. He is a partner at the Madison, Wisconsin, office of the law firm Quarles and Brady LLP.[1] On January 3, 2017, Schott's nomination was returned to President Obama at the sine die adjournment of the 114th Congress.[2]

Education

Schott graduated with his B.A. in 1977 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his J.D. cum laude in 1980 from Harvard Law School.[1]

Schott was nominated by President Barack Obama on January 12, 2016, to the position of federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. Obama commented on the nomination of Schott and another individual with the following statement: "These individuals have displayed exceptional dedication to the legal profession through their work, and I am honored to nominate them to serve the American people as judges on the United States Court of Appeals. They will be diligent, judicious and esteemed additions to the bench."[1]

The American Bar Association rated Schott Unanimously Well Qualified for the nomination.[3]

Hearings on Schott's nomination were held in the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary on May 18, 2016, and his nomination was reported by U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on June 16, 2016.[4][5] On January 3, 2017, Schott's nomination was returned to President Obama at the sine die adjournment of the 114th Congress.[2]
