For the last 33 years, I have served this nation to support and defend the

constitution at all cost, while protecting every American from terrorism and threats. As a US Army Special Operations Aviator, executing some of the highest classified and non-classified missions. I spent nearly seven years deployed with 34 combat tours conducting over 2500 missions in support of the global war on terrorism, culminating as the most senior and one of the most decorated aviators. My last assignment was to serve you as the Senior Warrant Officer Advisor to The Secretary of the Army for Talent Management. Working out of the Pentagon, I legislated with the Senate and House Armed Service Committees on Capitol Hill in Washington DC. I will bring the values and leadership from my time in service to stand with you on the

front lines here at home to solve our community and state's most pressing issues.
  • Proven Leadership with deep framework to problem solve
  • Keen understanding of the US and State Constitution to uphold the Constitutional Republic
  • Core Values based on decades of dedication to every American and the Gospel
Pro Life: I believe life begins at conception, I will fight to protect the most vulnerable among us.

2A: I believe that every Tennessean should have the right to protect themselves and their families. I am firmly against Red-Flag Laws that would infringe on the God-given right to bear arms.

Veterans: I support programs that help veterans improve their quality of life. We can harness the talents of the veteran community by providing education incentives, career placement services, and improved healthcare policies.

Education: Every child deserves the best education we can provide. We must invest in teachers and schools to ensure our children's future.
The late SEN John Glenn as a military and aviation pioneer (old democratic party), and the late President Ronald Reagan as the political leader defining the current day Republican party.
Transparency. Trust and honor is the critical principle to leadership. The people of the district must fully trust that what an elected official is broadcasting to represent. I understand that not all people will agree with the elected official, but there needs to be an agreement of trust. Which leads to further trust of fellow legislators.
Crisis action planning experience at all levels.

Executive level leadership in Washington DC for legislation and policy.
Morale courage to face all dilemmas in legislation. Leadership under pressure.
The ability to understand a greater effect of legislation for the common good.
The ability to be a part of something greater than myself.

A true defender of the constitution.
Morale Courage

Physical and Fiscal Commitment
Transparent Candor

Ultimate confidence within the people (trust)
Proven leadership by example and encouraged others to maintain honesty at all levels. The legacy of Doug Englen is to treat every person with dignity, purpose and respect regardless of their background for the great good of Tennessee. He has a gentle voice, but beware, he is always a step ahead.
Besides the marriage to my beautiful wife and the birth of my 4 children, I have several significant events in my life: Saving people in the from genocide in Yugoslavia, Operation Desert Storm, the first US Forces in Afghanistan and Iraq, to the flight lead for the raid that killed Bin Laden.
FAA & US Army Airframe and Power plant mechanic on Airplanes and Helicopters for 7 years. Kept this position until Flight school in 1992 and became a professional pilot and executive leader.

It never gets old.
Artist: Don McLean

Album: American Pie

This is a true example of how the US has changed its view on military conflict. We are definitely better off as a fighting force today vs. 1971.
Micromanagement. I have the desire to work 25 hours a day to make sure the mission/job is accomplished. Which means, I have challenges of doing it all myself. I have always valued teams. Teamwork is everything.
I see the Representatives as the front line face for the people as the districts are smaller and more personal. The Upper Chamber (Senate) has the responsibility in perspective for the State and commonality.
State Legislators should have a working knowledge of the government, but definitely not need prior government or political experience. This was the spirit behind the US Constitution and State Constitution. Legislators are to represent their districts and then go back to work.
The balance of power. The House (lower chamber) is truly representing the people, but the Senate (upper chamber) is remaining aligned with the executive branch with close proximity. There is not a definitive live between the branches as the State Constitution intends.
There needs to be a cordial and responsible relationship, but the legislator need to remain with the perspective to create law, and the executive branch to execute them with feedback. Of course, the judicial branch to ensure constitutional review.
Absolutely, there is varying levels of experience across all legislators. that is why good debates and committees are essential. relationships with all legislators is critical to gain a shared understanding on proposed legislation.
I favor the economical and demographic research for redistricting. I am very concerned of the influence urban lifestyles have on rural areas.

Leadership is the core value of my life long experiences and education. I will always be a leader, even when not leading.
Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson. I admired his method of leadership, which inspired people to trust in him.
Not at this time. I do not believe in luck, I believe that being consistently prepared when an opportunity comes, that is my definition of luck. I have served numerous positions in the military and never have treated the current position as temporary. I will fulfill the position of State Senator to the fullest for as long as God intends.
Foster Parents in the community. I have such admiration to those that open their homes and hearts to children that are in need. every life is precious.
