Biography
Eileen O'Brien earned a B.S. in pre-law studies from Transylvania University in 1977 and a J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1981. O'Brien's career experience includes working as an attorney with Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC. She volunteers with the Chrysalis House in Lexington, Kentucky, which describes its goal as, “to support women and their families in recovery from alcohol and other drugs.”[1][2]

Selection method

Judges of the Kentucky Family Courts are elected to eight-year terms in nonpartisan elections. They must run for re-election if they wish to serve subsequent terms.[3][4]
The chief judge is selected by his or her peers and serves a two-year term.[3]
Qualifications
In order to serve on this court, a judge must be:[3]
- a U.S. citizen;
- a resident of the represented district for at least two years; and
- licensed to practice law for at least eight years.
