Elliott Shoenthal
Elliott Shoenthal was a juvenile court judge of DeKalb County, Georgia. He started as a judge pro tem of this court in 1992 and served in this position until he became a full-time judge in 2005.[1] He died from heart-related issues on December 1, 2013. He was 55 years old.[2]
Education
Shoenthal received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and then his J.D. from the Emory University School of Law in 1983.[2]
Career
Shoenthal began his career as an assistant public defender in Glynn County. He worked for the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council of Georgia and the Office of the DeKalb County Solicitor General. He then started his own law firm in the 1990s. He also worked as a part-time associate judge of the DeKalb County Magistrate Court. In 1992, he became a judge pro tem of the juvenile court and, in 2005, he became a full-time judge.[2]
