Scott ran in the 2012 election for Indiana State Senate District 34. Scott's name did not appear on the May 8 primary ballot. Scott filed candidacy paperwork as a write-in Independent candidate after the primary election and was defeated by incumbent Jean Breaux (D) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
