Francis A. Nicolai
Francis A. Nicolai is a former justice of the Putnam County Supreme Court in the 9th Judicial District of New York. He was elected a supreme court justice of the 9th Judicial District in 1990 and took office on the Westchester County Supreme Court in 2008. He was a certificated justice from 2010 to 2013. He has also served as the presiding justice of the Appellate Term for the 9th and 10th judicial districts from 2009 to 2010.[1][2][3]
Biography and Education
Nicolai received his B.S. from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1961 and his J.D. from the New York Law School in 1970. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1961 to 1973.[1]
Career
Nicolai began his career in 1984 as a Westchester County Court judge. He then served on the supreme court from 1990 to 2004 before returning to the county court in 2005. He also served as an administrative judge for the 9th Judicial District from 1999 to 2009. In 2008, he left the county court for good to become a Westchester County Supreme Court Justice. He was appointed a presiding justice of the Appellate Term (9th and 10th judicial districts) in 2009.[1][3]
