Frank McGuire
Frank McGuire was a district judge in Covington County, Alabama. He retired in March 2014 and was succeeded by Julie S. Moody.[1]
In October 2016, McGuire declined an appointment to serve on a temporary slate of Alabama Supreme Court justices to hear the appeal of suspended Chief Justice Roy Moore.[2] Judge McGuire outlined his prior positive relationship with Justice Moore and stated that he did not feel he could be completely impartial in the case and that therefore the judicial canons of ethics required him to decline the appointment. In December, McGuire joined a motion to file an amicus brief in Moore's appeal, along with seven other sitting or retired trial judges.[3]
2010 election
McGuire ran unopposed in the general election and was elected with 100 percent of the vote.[4]
