Georgia

July 10, 2012

Cobb County, Georgia: George H. Kreeger of the Cobb Judicial Circuit of the Seventh Superior Court District has announced his retirement from the court.[1] His retirement is effective September 30. Kreeger has served on the Superior Court court for 28 years, and prior to his tenure on the Superior Court he served for over five years on the Cobb County State Court.[1]

Kreeger was most recently elected in 2010, defeating challenger Joan P. Davis with 60.6 percent of the vote. His current term was not set to expire until the end of 2014. The Judicial Nominating Commission will be taking applications and selecting finalists, but the Governor will make the final decision.[1] The chosen applicant will serve out Kreeger's term, and then must run for re-election in 2014 if they hope to retain the seat.
