Gerald Ptacek
Gerald P. Ptacek was a judge for the Racine County Circuit Court in Wisconsin. He was first appointed to the position in 1988 by Governor Tommy Thompson and was elected in 1989. Ptacek was re-elected in 1995, 2001, 2007 and most recently 2013. While the most recent election was for a term expiring in 2019, Ptacek announced in 2016 that he would retire from the bench on January 3, 2017.[1][2][3]
Biography
Ptacek earned his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1969 and his J.D. from the Marquette University Law School in 1974. Prior to becoming a judge, he held the following positions:[4][2]
- 1980–1988: District Attorney, Racine County
- 1979–1980: Attorney in private practice
- 1975–1979: Assistant District Attorney, Racine County
- 1969–1971: Mathematics teacher[2]
Elections
2013
Ptacek was re-elected after running unopposed in the general election on April 2, 2013.[5]
