Gia L. Morris is a judge of the New York City Criminal Court in Queens County, New York. She was appointed to this position in 2013 by Mayor Michael Bloomberg.[1]

Education

Morris received her undergraduate degree from Ithaca College in 1992. She earned her J.D. from Cardozo School of Law in 1995.[1]

Career

In 2011, Morris was appointed to the New York City Civil Court, and assigned to the Criminal Court. She served in that capacity until her appointment to the Queens County Criminal Court in 2013. She has also worked as the assistant commissioner for the New York City Department of Correction, assistant director of the New York State Banking Department, and inspector general of the New York City Department of Investigation. In addition, Morris was an associate at Allyn & Fortuna LLP, and was an assistant district attorney in the Kings County District Attorney's Office.[1]
