J. Hobart Darbyshire

J. Hobart Darbyshire was a judge of the Seventh District of Iowa. He was appointed to this position in 1995[1] and retired from the court in 2010.[2] He is now a senior judge.[1]

Biography and Education

Darbyshire was born in Lake City, Iowa. He received his B.A. degree from Morningside College in 1964 and his J.D. degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1967. He is now married and has three children and four grandchildren.[1]

Career

Darbyshire began his career in 1967 as a law clerk for Judge Clay LeGrand of the Iowa Supreme Court. He worked in this capacity until 1968. He then practiced law in Rockwell City, Mapleton and Davenport, Iowa. From 1972 to 1979, he was also a part-time U.S. Magistrate for the Southern District of Iowa. He was first appointed to the 7th District Court bench in 1979. He served there until 1985, when he returned to private practice. He was then appointed District Judge in 1995.[1]
