J. Preston Silvernail
J. Preston Silvernail was a Brevard County judge for the 18th Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He was appointed by former Governor Lawton Chiles in 1995 and was elected to the court in 2008. He served as chief judge from July 1999 to June 2001 and from July 2009 to June 2011.[1][2][3] Silvernail retired from the court on August 31, 2013.[4][5]
Education
Silvernail received his B.A. (1972) and MBA (1974) degrees from the University of Florida. He then earned his J.D. degree from St. Mary's University School of Law in 1977.[1][6]
Career
Silvernail began his career as a private practice lawyer. After a stint at the Harris Corporation, he returned to private practice in 1980. He worked in that capacity, with an emphasis on civil litigation, banking and business law, until he was appointed to the Brevard County Court in 1992. Silvernail was then elevated to the circuit court in 1995.[1][6]
