James Allen was the Place 1 member on the Bastrop Independent School District Board of Trustees in Texas. First elected to the seat in 2006, he was automatically re-elected to a fourth consecutive term after the general election on May 9, 2015, was canceled due to a lack of opposed races.

Prior to moving to Bastrop in 2002, Allen served on the Barbers Hill ISD Board of Trustees.[1]

Allen is a business owner and works as an agent for State Farm Insurance. He worked as a sales force productivity manger with Stewart & Stevenson in Houston before moving into his current employment. He works with both the Bastrop and Smithville Chambers of Commerce. He is an executive committee member for the Bastrop Sportsman's group.[1]

Allen earned a B.S. from Sam Houston State University.[1]

Opposition

Two of the seven seats on the Bastrop ISD Board of Trustees were scheduled for election on May 9, 2015, but the elections were canceled due to a lack of opposed races. Place 1 incumbent and Board President James Allen won re-election following the cancellation. Place 2 incumbent and Board Vice-President David Long, however, did not file to seek re-election. Kellye Seekatz was the sole candidate to file for the open seat, which she assumed at the board's May 2015 meeting.[2]
