James R. Beer is a circuit court judge for the Green County Circuit Court in Wisconsin.[1] He was first appointed to the position in 1996 by Governor Tommy Thompson, and was elected in 1997. Beer was re-elected in 2003, 2009 and 2015. His term will expire in 2021.[2] In addition to his judicial career, Beer is an avocational archaeologist whose Native American birdstone carvings were featured in the Wisconsin Archaeologist magazine.[3][4]

Education

Beer earned his B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1969. He earned his J.D. from the Marquette University Law School in 1972, and attended the National Prosecutors School at the Northwestern University School of Law in 1975.[2]
