James Levi "Jim" Cline, Jr. was a judge for the Ocmulgee Circuit in Georgia.[1] He was appointed to the court by former Governor Zell Miller in 1995, and was re-elected in 2012 for a term expiring in 2016.[2] On August 21, 2014, Cline was found dead in his home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. Autopsy results later confirmed his death as a suicide.[3][4]

Education

Cline received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and his J.D. degree from Mercer University.[5]

Career

Before his appointment to the court in 1995, Cline served as an assistant district attorney for the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit and for Bibb County. He also previously had his own law practice in Greensboro, Georgia.[6][7]

2012 election

Cline ran unopposed for re-election to the Ocmulgee Superior Court.[8] He was re-elected after receiving 99.7% of the vote in the July 31 election.[2]
