Jeff O'Connell
Jeff O'Connell was a Democratic candidate in the November 8, 2011, special election for the Missouri House of Representatives, District 83. The special election was called to fill the vacancy created when Jake Zimmerman (D) resigned after winning an election to become St. Louis County assessor.[1] O'Connell was defeated in his bid.
O'Connell is a former Overland City Council member. He is a laborer by trade and has served in several union leadership positions. He works as Business Agent/Organizer with Laborer's Local 42. He is married to his wife Marianna. They have four children.[2]
Campaign themes
On his 2011 campaign website', O'Connell discussed his qualifications and goals:
- "I have lived in this area and raised my family here for the past two decades. I am a former member of the Overland City Council and a business agent for Laborers Local 42. I am also the Democratic committeeman for Midland Township and am a strong believer in the principles and values of the Democratic party. My pledge to you is that I will be a champion for working families and the rights of all Missourians if elected to the legislature."

O'Connell was defeated by Tracy McCreery (I) in the November 8 special election. Patrick Brennan (R) also ran.[3]
