My Name is Jerry Lee Jones Jr, I was born in Aurora, Colorado. I grew up in Colorado and spent many summers in athletics such a playing basketball and running track. My parents believed that it would help me build character. I graduated high school in the spring of 2011 from Cherokee Trail High School and went on to pursue college athletics. After my first year in college, I decided to put my education on hold and enrolled in the United States Air Force to serve my country. After serving 6 years, I Transferred to an traditional Air Force Guardsmen and returned to college. In 2019, I got married and we began our life together. In 2020, I earned my Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice with a specialization in law enforcement administration at tColorado State University Global. I am currently pursuing my Masters degree in Project Management with a specialization in International Management. I should accomplish that goal and graduate in 2021. Later on, I hope to pursue a Phd. In the military, I traveled across the world which gave me a new and different perspective on the world. This also gave me the passion for helping people, but never knew how to go about helping my community. It was through this passion for helping others, I decided to start a non-profit organization with my wife and family. To support our community. We have chosen to help children with their education and look for ways to combat homelessness.
  • Having a safe learning environment is important in any school district. Parents need to have peace of mind knowing that their kids are safe.
  • Having a sold budget in place allows the spread of wealth to be equally among various school programs.
  • A strong Educational Curriculum needs to be in place in order for the Cherry Creek School district to be the top school district in Colorado
Creating a policy that focuses on the budget within the educational system is extremely important. I personally believe in the importance to have a strong financial foundation that ensure equal distribution of funds to every school. Our children's education is only achieved by having educated school staff that care about our children just as much as a parent would. School staff deserve a fair and appropriate salary. Equal distribution of funds will ensure school staff receive better pay. It will also guarantee all school programs stay funded. Programs such as athletics, the arts and clubs all help shape our children's minds. I personally believe it is important for these types of programs to remain in school and stay funded.

Policies that focus on eliminating discrimination within schools are extremely important to me. I feel that all students should receive an equal and fair education and opportunities no matter their race, sex, sex orientation, language, religion or any disability.
My father has always been my best friend and a role model. I always looked up to my father because his word meant a lot to me. He always told me that success is what you make of it. Success is not one specific ideology. It can be achieved publicly, educationally or internally. Success takes time and patience; don't be in a hurry. Success is a marathon, not a sprint. Continue to grow in life. Success means self-fulfillment. As long as you feel good about the work you have have done, then you are successful in life.
Integrity, service and empathy are the three most important characteristics for an elected official. An elected official's word carries weight. If the official says they are going to do something or stand for something, their actions need to follow suit. The community turns to the elected officials to help implement changes and keep everything in the district running smoothly. The elected official needs to listen to their community and be their voice. It is important for an elected official to be analytical and structured, but at the same time empathetic to the communities needs and desires. Making sound decisions for the district not only comes from statistics and facts, but also from the communities voice.
I want to be an advocate for my community, stand for what is right at all times and be a man that is honorable even in difficult times. Having these characteristics as an officeholder will leave a footprint and roadmap for those who follow after. Being a partner with the community to better the school district is extremely important.
My favorite book is Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter. This book teaches readers about financial literacy and how to grow wealth and gain time in life. I find this book very interesting because it opened my eyes on a new way of looking at money/wealth and how to spend my time. I learned that making a lot of money does not mean you are wealthy. Wealth is not measured by the dollar amount in your bank account, but by the amount of time you gain from passive income. This was my favorite read because I learned that I can gain more time with my family, but the way I handle my income and future income. To me, time is one of the most important aspects of life.
Students need to learn technology skills and computer programs (Excel, Word, Etc.) to be better suited for the 21st century. This type of knowledge and skills are used in the workforce on a day to day basis. Students also need to learn how to critically think. This will allow students to succeed in life because it will help them think logically and soundly to make sound judgements. Critical thinking will also teach students to think for themselves and differentiate between good and bad decisions.
Annual school budgeting audits is a strategies that I would like to implement to ensure schools are properly funded. Annual audits will show what expenses school have and where their funding is actually going. The annual audit allows the board to analyze the funding each year and help schools adjust their budget/spending to be more appropriate and continue to receive appropriate funding. As the world changes and the schools develop, the school's funding will also change. Annual audits will help the district stay on track and be able to look back at past years to ensure proper funding for the future.
Our world is surrounded and ran by technology; it is the future. Having technology at the tips our fingers within the classroom will allow students to receive additional knowledge. Teachers and schools can have presentations via virtual sessions verses having someone come to the school. Presentations can be easily accessed this way. Technology will also allow students to learn virtually verses in person. Teachers can have more students in their classes if their classes are virtual. Since technology is everywhere in the world and especially in the work force, having it in the classroom will help students prepare for their future as working adults. The district would be prepared for this future by having all schools attend workshops and annual training on virtual learning. The districts budget will be created to ensure all students and teachers have the necessary items to learn virtually.
