Jerry Kobishop was a 2016 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 8th Congressional District of Wisconsin. Kobishop dropped out of the race prior to the primary elections.[1]

Heading into the election, Ballotpedia rated this race as a race to watch. The seat was left open following incumbent Reid Ribble's (R) decision to retire. Mike Gallagher (R) defeated Tom Nelson (D) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Gallagher defeated Frank Lasee and Terry McNulty in the Republican primary on August 9, 2016.[2][3]

Campaign themes

2016

Kobishop submitted the following goals to Ballotpedia:

  1. Reform our legal system by enforcing the “oath” as a personal promise to our constitution with personal liability as stated.
  2. Reform our correctional system with a mission of helping people and producing a quality product as the people that pay them.
  3. Promote public legal education to secure civil rights and overall harmony between the public and our legal system.
  4. Promote quality ethical standards and service by all public workers to enhance the relationship of our government and the citizens for which they serve.
  5. 5. Promote two years of college paid for all Americans with successful completion with additional benefits to teachers with commitment to public service and volunteering.
  6. Insist civil rights and public benefits must be earned by all Americans.
  7. Give all children an equal opportunity.
  8. Explore protecting our schools with man’s best friend “Joe the Friendly German shepherd” high Tec school guard dog providing 24/7 protection and natural sense of security for children.
  9. Demand all government spending meet private investment standards.
  10. Support all goals by cutting excessive spending in our correctional system and other nonproductive government programs.
