Joel Barrows

Joel Barrows is a judge of the Seventh District of Iowa. He was appointed to this position in July 2012 by Governor Terry Branstad.[1] He was retained in 2014 for a term that expires on December 31, 2020.[2]

Barrows ran for retention to the 7th District. The general election took place on November 4, 2014. [2]
Education
Barrows earned his undergraduate degree from Coe College in 1983, as well as a master's degree in history from Southern Illinois University in 1986. He also received, with distinction, a master of laws degree in international and comparative law from Georgetown University Law Center in 1993. Barrows received his J.D. from Drake University in 1989.[1][3]
Career
Before Governor Branstad appointed him to the bench, Barrows was a child support recovery attorney for Clinton, Cedar and Jackson counties. He was also an assistant Polk County attorney in Des Moines, and an assistant U.S. attorney in Des Moines and Davenport.[3]
