John D. Mead was a judge of the Benzie County Probate Court and 85th District Court in Michigan.

Education

Mead earned his B.S. in criminal justice at Grand Valley State College and a master's degree in public administration from Central Michigan University. He later earned his J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and an LL.M. in agricultural law.[1]

Career

Mead served as a law enforcement officer in Frankfort and Benzie County. In 2004 Mead was appointed as a Family Division referee. He was later appointed as a district court attorney/magistrate in 2012.[1]

2012 election

Mead advanced from in the primary election, winning 34.77 percent of the vote. He defeated John B. Daugherty in the general election on November 6, winning 55.97 percent of the vote.[2][3][4]

July 11th forum

The League of Women Voters held a candidate forum to field questions to the Benzie County probate court candidates. Mead said that residents who want to know more about his courtroom experience are invited to come to the Benzie County Government Center and watch him in action.[1]
