John J. Murphy III is a judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit Court, Civil Division, in Florida. He was elected on November 5, 2002, ousting incumbent Judge Joyce Anne Maines-Julian and taking office the following January.[1] He was re-elected in 2008 and 2014, and his current six-year term expires on January 4, 2021.[2][3][4]

As an unopposed candidate, he was automatically re-elected without appearing on the ballot. [3] 

Education

Murphy earned his J.D. from the Stetson College of Law.[5]

Career

Murphy worked as a Broward County assistant state attorney in 1977 and 1978. He spent 25 years as a lawyer prior to joining the 17th Judicial Circuit Court. At the time of his judicial election, he was running his own law firm.[6]
