John Robert Otterman

John Robert Otterman was an at-large member of the Akron Public Schools Board of Education in Ohio. He resigned on January 22, 2018, a week after overdosing on opioids.[1]
He previously served as a Democratic member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing District 45 from 2009 to 2011.

Opposition
Four of the seven seats on the Akron Public Schools Board of Education were up for election on November 3, 2015. Three of the seats up for election were for regular four-year terms. The fourth seat was on the ballot for a special two-year term.
Incumbents Tim Miller and Curtis Walker Sr. won re-election to the board. John Robert Otterman filled the other four-year term seat.[2]
Incumbent Patrick Bravo, along with candidates Summer Hall, Valerie McKitrick, Garth Starks and Ernie Tarle, were defeated in the election.[3][4]
Debbie Walsh defeated Pete Nischt for the seat with a two-year term. The unexpired term on the board was created following the resignation of member Dave Lombardi, who was appointed to a municipal judgeship. Jason Haas, a former member of the board, was appointed to fill the position until the election could be held. Haas stated at the time of his appointment that he did not intend to run in the special election for the remainder of the term.[5]

Otterman reported no contributions or expenditures to the Summit County Board of Elections in the election.[6]

Otterman received no official endorsement for his campaign during the election.

Otterman was defeated in the primary election by challenger Zack Milkovich. Otterman lost by a margin of 3,274-3,997.
2008
On November 4, 2008, Otterman won election to the Ohio House of Representatives.[7][8][9]
