- Commitment to service, proven experience, and ability to get along with people. In my 18 years on the Town Council I've watched Winterville change, definitely for the better. I love the growth. I meet new people all the time. We've had infrastructure improvements. New single-family homes are coming into town. People are laid back but also hard working, and people have access to a quality education with strong high schools, Pitt Community College, and ECU right up the road. We have lots of diversity, which wasn't always the case. Public safety has improved and is a reason why people choose to relocate here. I'm proud of my service to the Town, as a ball coach, chair of the Parks department, and a Deacon at my church.
- I understand public policy and have identified key improvements to help Winterville both embrace growth and preserve what we enjoy. If I'm re-elected, I want to prioritize: - A new multipurpose building near Highway 11 (Winterville Parkway) - A new walking trail on the east side of town, which will help with recreation and bring people closer to nature and each other - Sidewalks on Mill Street - A new watertower and a second fire station - A recreation center on the west side of town These projects will support a town that is ready to move forward and willing to face challenges.
- Mentorship and engagement with the community. I am a man of faith, active in New Saint Rest Church. James 2:26 says "faith without works is dead" and I try to carry the values of kindness, respect, and open-mindedness into every decision I make. I have strong convictions and clear morals, and I will go to bat for the policies I support during meetings, but I also am easy to get along with. No matter who I've served with, I always serve with the wellbeing of Winterville in mind. As I get older, I'm excited to pass this experience on and support our youth. I've been married to my wonderful wife for 50 years, and have a daughter, son and daughter-in-law and one grandson.
