Jon C. Fister

Ballotpedia provides comprehensive election coverage of the 100 largest cities in America by population as well as mayoral, city council, and district attorney election coverage in state capitals outside of the 100 largest cities. This judge is outside of that coverage scope and does not receive scheduled updates.
Jon C. Fister is a senior judge of District 1B of Iowa. He became a senior judge on August 6, 2010, due to the mandatory retirement age of Iowa judges. Because of his age, Fister can work at least 13 weeks a year, to fill in for judges or serve on special cases.[1] He was first appointed to the bench in 1993.[2]
Education
Fister received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Iowa in 1967 and 1971, respectively.[2]
Career
Before joining the court, Fister taught at Iowa Western Community College in the Police Science Department, worked for a law firm in Page County and then practiced with a firm in Black Hawk County for over 20 years.[2]
