Joyce H. Williams

Joyce H. Williams was a judge for the Escambia County Court, Division 1, in Florida from 2005 to 2019. She was appointed to this position by Gov. Jeb Bush (R) in 2005, becoming the first African American woman to serve as a County Court judge in the 1st Judicial Circuit.[1][2][3] Williams retired on March 31, 2019.[4]
Education
Williams received her undergraduate and J.D. degrees from the University of Florida in 1977 and 1981, respectively.[5]
Career
Williams worked as an assistant Escambia County attorney from 1988 to 1994 and an assistant Pensacola City attorney from 1994 until her judicial appointment in 2005.[5]
2012 election
Williams was unopposed and automatically re-elected following the Nov. 6, 2012 general election.[6][7]
