Karen A. Overstreet was a judge for the United States bankruptcy court, Western District of Washington. She was appointed on January 3, 1994, and reappointed to an additional 14-year term in 2007. She was elevated to the position of chief judge in June 2005 and served in that role until December 2010. Overstreet was the first woman to be appointed as a federal bankruptcy judge in the State of Washington. She retired from the court on June 30, 2015.[1][2][3][4]

Education

Overstreet earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Washington and a J.D. from the University of Oregon.[5]

Career

Prior to joining the court, Overstreet worked as a private practice partner at the law firm of Davis Wright Tremaine where her practice was focused in bankruptcy and commercial law.[1][3]
