Karsten H. Rasmussen was the presiding judge on the Lane County Circuit Court in Oregon. The court has jurisdiction over Lane County and is located within the 2nd Judicial District.[1] Rasmussen retired on June 30, 2018.[2]

2012 election

Rasmussen ran unopposed and was re-elected in the May 15th primary.[3][4]

Federal judgeship nomination

Judge Rasmussen was one of five recommendations made by Senator Ron Wyden to President Obama for a seat on the United States District Court for the District of Oregon.[5]

Education

Judge Rasmussen earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Oregon and a masters in history from the University of Chicago. He earned his J.D. from the University of Oregon.[6]

Career

Judge Rasmussen was a member of the Oregon State Senate from 1993 to 1995. Before his appointment to the circuit court in 1999, Rasmussen practiced civil litigation for 16 years.[7]
