Russell ran for election to the Vermont Superior Courts, as an assistant judge of Windham County.
Primary: She ran unopposed in the Liberty Union primary on August 26, 2014.
General: She was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 9.0 percent of the vote. She competed against Democrat Patricia W. Duff, Democrat Paul Kane and fellow Liberty Union Party candidate Alice Landsman for two open seats. [1][2][1][3][4]
