Mary R. O'Donoghue is a former New York City Criminal Courts judge, serving on the Kings County Family Court in New York. She was first appointed to the criminal court in December of 2004 and reappointed in December of 2010.[1][2]

Biography and Education

O'Donoghue received her B.A. degree from Manhattanville College in 1973, her M.P.S. degree from Long Island University in 1976 and her J.D. degree from St. John's University School of Law in 1980. Prior to her legal career, from 1971 to 1980, she worked at the Ozanam Hall Nursing Home.[1]

Career

O'Donoghue began her legal career in 1980 working in the New York County District Attorney's Office. There she served as an Assistant D.A. and as the Bureau Chief of Child Abuse, Domestic Violence and Juvenile Crimes. In 1991, she left that position to work for the Governor of New York as Executive Assistant to the Director of Criminal Justice until 1994. From 1995 to 2003, she served as an administrative assistant in the U.S. Attorney's office for the Eastern District of New York.[1]

O'Donoghue's judicial career began in January of 2003, when she was appointed an Interim Civil Court Judge for New York City. She was reappointed the following December. She was then appointed to the Criminal Court one year later, in December of 2004. She was again appointed to the Interim Civil Court in January of 2009 before being reappointed to the Criminal Court in December of 2010.[2]
